EMBC AGM
About 50 members attended today’s AGM and Members’ Day at Attenborough Nature Centre, which made it a good opportunity to catch up with some old friends.
After the business of the AGM we enjoyed two talks: by Ken Orpe on Conservation at Aston Brickyards, where a brownfield site is being transformed into a thriving wild space; and by Bill Bacon on Grizzled Skipper Projects.
The notable contribution of volunteers to these projects and indeed to conservation in general was once again underlined. At a time of growing ‘professionalisation’ in conservation, it is worth remembering that volunteers are invaluable and indispensable.
